A reminder about NAVCA’s national survey
A quick reminder about NAVCA’s national survey. We previously posted on the subject in mid-July.
NAVCA (the national voice of local support and development organisations in England, who run the ICT Champions project) are running a survey of the community sector to try and help get the information and communication technology (ICT) support it will need in the future. The main objective of the survey is to create a ‘directory’ of some form which is accessible to everyone and informs you where you can get the support you need locally. Often this isn’t just about organisations who are dedicated to ICT, but covers a whole range of general support organisations who might, for example, also do basic Microsoft Office (or other basic IT) training, or have a list of technical support providers to signpost their members and groups to.
We understand that you may be tired of surveys, but we feel that this one is very important both locally and nationally in getting the support the sector needs. The survey will take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
Thank you in advance for taking the time to complete this survey – your input is appreciated!

Communications and Social Media Workshop – Taunton
A recent NAVCA survey has shown that Local Volunteer Centres and Local Support and Development Organisations are increasingly interested in Communication using Social Media, but can be confused about what is the right tool or website to use or are unsure about how to plan effective use of this new technology for their organisations.
The ICT Champions and Red Foundation are running a series of Communications and Social Media workshops across the country to address these questions. The workshops which are aimed at development workers and other support staff have been very popular and well received so far, with one taking place in the South West at The Albemarle Centre, Taunton on 7th October.
During the day we will cover how to plan a social media strategy, how to pick the appropriate communications tools, what is community networking and will cover a wide range of social media websites allowing plenty of time to try out the technology and to ask questions.
Please could you pass this information to the appropriate member of staff in your organisation who may be able to attend and if possible to advertise it to other support organisations in your area though your website or newsletter.
