COSMIC in Top 100 Social Enterprises

Thu, 10/06/2010

Last night was the Awards event for the new RBS SE100 Index which is a newly established listing of social enterprises across the UK. The awards recognised winners in three categories within the list – impact, growth and newcomers. COSMIC was shortlisted in the Impact Champions awards and in a very closely run contest we came runner-up. Overall winners were FRC Group in Liverpool and we send our congratulations to everyone at FRC for their achievement.

Full details of the SE100 Index are now available to download here - http://bit.ly/cZs780(COSMIC’s achievement as runner-up is featured in detail on page 26)

COSMIC’s CEO Julie Harris went to London for the Awards ceremony, along with Tim Evans and Gary Ebsworth. Julie explained how proud she was for COSMIC to have made its mark in this way.
“Its a real thrill to be in London celebrating with other social enterprises, and I feel immense pride in our achievements and how we continue to lead the way in developing our social enterprise. The whole team at COSMIC plays a part every day in making sure we live up to our values, ethos and objectives.  I know how much we have developed a clear sense of what social impact really means, and of course we continue to develop social accounting to demonstrate clearly to everyone else how we measure and report that social impact.

I am delighted for FRC Group and have passed on congratulations to them from all at COSMIC. When I took over as CEO in 2002 one of my first major challenges was to learn more about social impact measurement and how to get that working effectively. As part of that learning I visited Liverpool and spent time at FRC to see how those systems were developing. Last night whilst speaking to the guys at FRC they extended an invitation to visit and share some more good practice between our teams, and I know that will be a great opportunity.

And of course whilst enjoying the celebrations at the event I made a very clear commitment. Next year we will win!”
