National Coastwatch Institution

The Cosmic team has worked with this organisation over several years now finding ways to continuously improve their online communications and interaction with supporters, volunteers and policymakers.
The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) is an entirely voluntary organisation keeping a visual watch along UK shores. Each station assists in the protection and preservation of life at sea and around the UK coastline. Currently 49 NCI stations are operational and manned by over 2000 volunteers keeping watch around the British Isles from Rossall  Point in the North West, through Wales, to Wearside in the North East.

The IT and Web team at NCI wanted to be as self sufficient as possible and to be able to develop applications for the site with minimal intervention and support, whilst at the same time recognising the value of specialist skills and experience which the Cosmic team has to share - ""we dont want to be in the situation where we do things wrongly or risk bringing the site down.""  There is a team of four volunteers at NCI involved in supporting the website, three of whom have varying levels of knowledge about Drupal but all have some IT background,  so not working from a standing start, and all have been involved in the recent developments achieving new learning alongside working with the Cosmic team.

Ray Rigg, IT and Webmaster Team, NCI -
""We have received nothing but praise for the new website and a lot of that is down to Cosmic's sterling efforts with the build to get us up and running. It has been a long hard slog and we are most appreciative of your efforts.""
