National Coastwatch

The Cosmic team has worked with this organisation over several years now finding ways to continuously improve their online communications and interaction with supporters, volunteers and policymakers.
The National Coastwatch Institution (NCI) is an entirely voluntary organisation keeping a visual watch along UK shores. Each station assists in the protection and preservation of life at sea and around the UK coastline. Currently 49 NCI stations are operational and manned by over 2000 volunteers keeping watch around the British Isles from Rossall  Point in the North West, through Wales, to Wearside in the North East.

The IT and Web team at NCI wanted to be as self sufficient as possible and to be able to develop applications for the site with minimal intervention and support, whilst at the same time recognising the value of specialist skills and experience which the Cosmic team has to share - "we dont want to be in the situation where we do things wrongly or risk bringing the site down."  There is a team of four volunteers at NCI involved in supporting the website, three of whom have varying levels of knowledge about Drupal but all have some IT background,  so not working from a standing start, and all have been involved in the recent developments achieving new learning alongside working with the Cosmic team.

Ray Rigg, IT and Webmaster Team, NCI -
"We have received nothing but praise for the new website and a lot of that is down to Cosmic's sterling efforts with the build to get us up and running. It has been a long hard slog and we are most appreciative of your efforts."

Heart of the South West LEP (Local Enterprise Partnership)

The Heart of the South West is the Local Enterprise Partnership for Devon, Plymouth, Somerset and Torbay. Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) are new strategic partnership organisations formed under the leadership of the private sector and supported by the local authorities to create a powerful economic alliance. The Heart of the South West has already attracted more than £25 million of Government funding to kick start the areas' economy, to create new jobs, boost productivity and to improve earnings.

Tim Jones, Chairman for Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership:
“The Heart of the South West were looking for a new website, that reflected the way that the Public and Private sectors work together in the Local Enterprise Partnership. We wanted a website that was contemporary, clear and allowed flexibility of content – and all of this to a tight deadline, with a strict budget.

“Communication with Cosmic was good at all stages – we had a thorough planning meeting where we were fully involved in providing design and structure ideas.  We were impressed with the development site process, that allowed us to monitor progress whilst the site was being created and we were also impressed with the regular communication from the team.

“The finished product has received good feedback and, as the Local Enterprise Partnership grows and progresses, we now have the capability of adapting our website to reflect our work.

“Working with Cosmic has been a pleasure – they have the right combination of creativity, customer service and technical know-how – thank you!

The Eye Expert

"I had been thinking about setting up my own website for my private medical practice for some time but with a degree of anxiety due to my lack of previous experience in this area.  I wished to have a professional looking site that promoted my practice and following a recommendation I contacted the team at Cosmic and have been delighted by the service that has been provided.

My initial meeting with the Cosmic team reassured me that I was not going to be confused by jargon and the process was explained to me in a simple and logical way that was easy to understand and follow.  The Cosmic team were also good listeners and came up with an excellent design layout for my website.

I had a thorough training session on how to use the site and the great advantage with Cosmic is that you can change and update most of the website yourself with the fantastic and simple to use content management system.  You also continue to get support indefinitely if you have any queries and this is great to know especially in the early days of updating the site.

I have already had some excellent feedback on the site and am sure this will add value to my business."
