My name is Emily Rice, and I am a Digital Skills Trainer at Cosmic. I currently work on the RESTART project, helping people who may feel digitally excluded from the job market build the digital skills they need to move towards employment.
One of the best parts of my role is seeing confidence grow. Many people start feeling unsure about technology, then begin to realise they are more capable than they thought.
I have a background in teaching and business operations. Before joining Cosmic, I worked as an online TEFL teacher for four years. I also spent eight years in business operations for a large IT infrastructure company. This mix of experience helps me understand the employability market and the barriers people can face in a fast-changing digital world.
Alongside this, I have a theatre background and gained a 2:1 degree in Theatre from Dartington College of Arts. I have also worked with theatre companies and amateur dramatic societies in my spare time for more than 20 years.
During the pandemic, I swapped my love of theatre for a new interest in gardening. Since then, I have enjoyed trying to grow vegetables in pots, with mixed success
