7 Types of Video Posts for Social Media

Video is absolutely dominating the social channels, so much so that even the channels that were more text and photo based have morphed into video platforms. HubSpot Research shows that four of the top six channels on which global consumers watch video are actually social channels – that’s YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. Not including the newer platform of TikTok, and even Twitch! Hubspot also found that 78% of people watch online videos every week, while 54% watch videos every day.

If you browse around you’ll notice the multitude of video marketing stats that all point to the same thing: video is the future of marketing.

But what types of videos are best for your business?

Here’s 7 that you may need to think about when creating video content for your business.

1. Demo Videos

Demo videos are best for showing how your product works — whether that's taking viewers on a tour of your software and how it can be used or unboxing and putting a physical product to the test.

This is good if you have an actual product, but you could also produce a video of your service, say if you’re an editor or designer.

2. Brand Videos

Brand videos are generally created as part of a larger advertising campaign, showcasing the company's high-level vision, mission, or products and services.

You can also create these types of videos to talk about the history of the company, how it came to be, and the future ethos of the company or business.

3. Educational or How-To Videos

Instructional videos are fantastic! We should know, as we’re all about education and creating great teaching content. You can create these types of videos to teach your audience something new or talk more about different aspects of the business, so they better understand solutions to the problems they are encountering.

4. Animated Videos

If you have the creative capacity or budget, animated videos can be a great format for your business. They’re usually good for hard-to-grasp concepts that need more visuals or to explain an abstract service or product.

5. Case Study and Customer Testimonial Videos

Your potential customers will always want to know that your product can solve their specific problem. One of the best ways to do this is by creating case study videos that feature your satisfied, loyal customers! Even if it’s only a minute or two, it’s great to have real-world people talking about real-world situations and how you’ve helped them.

6. Live Videos

Another great idea – though in this case, the videos can end up being much longer than a minute or so – create live videos. These give your viewers a special, behind-the-scenes look at your company and even the people or person behind the business. Some great examples of videos would be live-stream interviews, presentations, and events. Oh, and do encourage viewers to comment with questions!

7. 360° Videos

If you’re able to create these types of videos, we think they’re great. With 360° videos, viewers “scroll” around to see either content or a product from every angle!

We hope these have given you some ideas!
