“Over coming a hurdle, breaking boundaries, climbing a mountain…actually climbing Mount Everest!”

Shabana Kausar, a Pioneer on Cosmic’s ‘Lively Leadership Programme’ is embarking upon a challenge of a lifetime to Mount Everest base camp to raise money for a charity that tackles gender inequality. Through her work, Shabana works actively in empowering women in Bristol by supporting them in achieving their full potential and breaking down barriers that stand in the way.
Shabana believes that one of the key ways of empowering women is through education. Unfortunately, even in the UK, this cannot be taken for granted as there are many cultural barriers that stand in the way. Dil Trust UK is an innovative charity that works towards gender equality by providing quality education for disadvantaged women from impoverished backgrounds in Pakistan. Please visit www.dil.org for more information.

Shabana (aged 25), says that ‘the Cosmic Lively Leadership Programme gave me the confidence to continue challenging myself and develop my leadership skills on an international level. My trek to Mount Everest sends out a loud and clear message that women of all ages have the right to aim high and to pursue their dreams.’

Shabana is undertaking her trek to Mount Everest base camp on April 14th 2011. We’ve sponsored Shabana, if you’d like to donate to her cause, please visit her Just Giving page:http://www.justgiving.com/Shabana-Kausar
