Plenty of people will tell you the definition of what a Social Enterprise is, I’d like to give you a great, local example of a Social Enterprise, an example which Cosmic works with, an example Cosmic designed a website for.
Paper Chain
Paperchain have been recycling since 1990 and offer a fully comprehensive, friendly and efficient recycling service. The Co-operative began life in 1990 as a community based office paper recycling scheme. Paperchain has stayed true to it’s not for profit ideals, its members being committed to equality of status and pay and we have been recycling as a local social enterprise for nearly two decades. They state:
“Although we are a not for profit company we aim to run an efficient, modern and ethical company making enough profit to cover our costs and invest in our future”
Operating out of Exeter in Devon Paperchain specialise in providing cost effective and flexible recycling and confidential destruction service as regular collections or as one offs and is already being used by over 600 local businesses and other organisations.
