Julie and Kate

Cosmic won the National Digital Inclusion Award at the Technology4Good event in London last week and to be completely honest with you, we’re chuffed to bits. On Thursday 4th July Julie, our Chief Executive, and Kate, Business Manager hopped on a train with fairly low expectations of picking up an award that evening.

Now, that’s not because we didn’t think we deserved to win but more to do with Julie’s humility and the fact that she was keeping her feet very firmly on the ground.

The Technology4Good awards celebrates the innovative and diverse ways in which charities, businesses, schools, government and the public have harnessed the power of technology to benefit the community. They’re sponsored by BT and organised by AbilityNet. See our news article about the win on our website.

The funniest thing for all the staff back in the office in Honiton was seeing all the tweets coming from the event and especially from Julie and Kate after we were announced as the winners.

We won! We won!! Yes we did … WE Won!! #cosmicuk #t4goodawards

The award is, which is taking pride of place in our office currently, was the result of 17 years of hard graft and the work doesn’t stop there. We’re working on numerous projects currently which are just some of the reasons we won the award in the first place. Our Digital Inclusion work is only just beginning and let’s not forget the Digital Apprenticeship scheme which begins in September.

The Tech4Good website has a photo of all the winners that day and a full round-up of the ceremony held in London. Julie is front and centre in the photo and looking extremely happy… rightfully so.
