Lord knight Press One

On Friday, Cosmic was lucky enough to have a visit from Lord Knight of Weymouth in the afternoon.

Personally, it was a fantastic experience as myself, James and Jamie were asked to present on behalf of Cosmic to Lord Knight explaining where Cosmic came from, a brief timeline of our history, some information about our Devon Digital Inclusion project and both ours and Jamie’s apprenticeship.

Although we felt nervous before the presentation, Lord Knight was very personable and easy to talk to with a good sense of humour which immediately made us feel more at ease when presenting to him. The presentation went well, and afterwards Lord Knight asked us a lot of questions about the apprenticeship scheme and what sort of work we have undertaken so far as well as plans for the future. His work as president of the Tinder Foundation was evident and it was great to have the opportunity to discuss digital inclusion with him.

Working on the presentation for much of last week was also a fantastic learning process for us because we had an in depth look into the history of Cosmic and how our Digital Inclusion work and the Apprenticeship scheme has evolved over the years. It also gave us the chance to reflect on the last few months which we’ve been at Cosmic for and how far we’ve come both in our apprenticeship and the business.

When asked about the Lord Knight visit Cosmic CEO Julie Hawker said:

“It’s a fabulous opportunity to provide Lord Knight with further information and examples of our work, and particularly for him to experience first-hand work being undertaken by the business and our team at this time in digital inclusion, support for wider economic developments and skills, and of course our great new apprenticeship programme which has been shortlisted for several awards already.”
