Shopping Local for the Festive Season

With Christmas approaching faster than we can imagine, it’s more important than ever to shop locally wherever possible for this year’s festive season. Local businesses all over the UK are feeling the strain of the cost-of-living crisis and the support of consumers is needed more now than ever.

We would like to highlight some local businesses we’ve worked with and what they have to offer.

Rich Craft Furniture: 

Rich Craft Furniture offers Bespoke furniture handmade with the highest quality materials. Richard Evans, the owner of the company, came to Cosmic after he found his ranking in the Google Search pages dropped dramatically as he moved down to the South West. Through the fully funded Digital Boost program that we ran in Plymouth, we were able to find out the problems which he encountered and provided support in order to rectify the issues and get his website back onto the first page of Google Search, helping to get his operation back on track.

Mizz Arts: 

Mizzarts is ran by a North Devon based artist named Miriam Turner. She has been creating and selling artwork for 15 years and has a wide array of offerings to buy including earrings, mugs, coasters etc.

Miriam worked closely with our digital skills trainer, where she gained invaluable knowledge about a range of topics, enabling her to become much more confident in her digital marketing skills, streamlining her website and social media to increase engagement.

Sharpham Cheese: 

Sharpham dairy have been hand making cheeses for over 40 years overlooking the scenic River Dart in South Devon.

They attended various workshops ran by us which were promoted in association with Food and Drink Devon.

Heron Farm: 

Heron Farm in the Honiton area is a working farm comprised of 17-acres along with an award-winning cafe, vineyards, orchards, a kitchen garden, and plenty more.

So far, we have provided support to Heron farm on their use of Microsoft 365 and introducing Capsule as a CRM to manage customer information, marketing and contact. Support is still ongoing in helping the company to become more self-sufficient with

Love Kates Cards:

Love Kates is a Newquay based online card shop providing cards and a range of gifts for people to purchase.

They were provided with 1:1 support and mentoring from Cosmic which included an SEO review and suggestions for enhancement and consultancy regarding CRM options.

East Devon Chiropractic:

Local chiropractor Heather Foster opened the clinic in 2021 with a mission to improve the lives of everyone seeking her help. Specialising in helping people get the most out of life by reducing pain and improving mobility with safe and effective treatment and management of problems ranging from headaches to toe pain and everything in between.

The Dartmoor Soap. Co:

The Dartmoor Soap Company was founded in 2013 by a mother who was unhappy with the results of traditional baby products not helping with her son’s eczema, so formulating her own soap using all natural ingredients and finding that her son’s eczema cleared up, the company was born!

They joined our Digital Advantage programme in 2020 and received 12 hours of 1:1 support on email marketing, website & SEO advice, social media support including TikTok & creating reels on Instagram.

They are currently receiving further support to review the actions implemented in the previous training.

Life’s Little Recipes: 

Life’s Little Recipes is a family run business based in rural North Devon. They started back in 2016, when the founder, Fiona Thomas, was inspired to create a wide range of unique ‘Recipe’ gift bags.

Also joining the Digital Advantage programme in 2020 and receiving support through workshops and 1:1 support, the business is now receiving further support on Digital Boost Devon to support with improving the website ranking and developing a selling strategy for the website & Amazon.

Caramel Clothing LTD: 

Caramel Clothing is a boutique providing contemporary fashion for stylish women. They have had a store in Devon for over 15 years.

Caramel Clothing joined the Retail Recovery Programme in 2021 and attended workshops on selling online, digital marketing strategies for retail businesses and social media for online retail businesses. Further support is being provided to help review their success.

Ari’s Healthy Life: 

Aris Healthy Life is a Food Store & Cafe that promotes local, natural & organic produce.

They joined Digital Boost Exeter in 2021 and had a 1:1 session to introduce the principles of website design and considerations when planning on creating a website.
