Power Platform and Process Automation Skills Bootcamp
The Power Platform and Automation Bootcamp is a hands-on training programme that helps you build low-code tools and streamline business processes. You’ll explore Microsoft’s Power Platform suite—starting with Power Apps to design and deploy business applications, then using Power Automate to create workflows that cut down repetitive tasks. You’ll gain practical experience with Power BI, analysing live datasets and designing dashboards that turn raw data into actionable insights. You’ll also discover how to build AI-powered chatbots with Power Virtual Agents and create secure, interactive websites using Power Pages—all without writing code.

Format and Funding
This flexible, part-time course runs for over 2 mornings per week over 9 weeks (Total: 60 guided learning hours). It’s delivered live online with tutor support, so you can learn from anywhere in Devon and fit it around existing work or commitments.
And the best bit? It’s fully funded for eligible adults through the Department for Education’s Skills Bootcamps programme.

Our skills bootcamps address business needs
We consulted with local employers to design a Power Platform and Process Automation Skills Bootcamp that addresses the needs of businesses in the region. Our aim is to build practical skills that can be actioned immediately to improve workplace productivity and fuel growth.
What you will learn:
The curriculum for the Power Platform and Automation bootcamp is:
– Power Apps (14 hours)
Start your journey by learning to build low-code solutions using Power Apps. Understand the fundamentals of app design and logic. Choose and connect to data sources like Dataverse or SharePoint. Map out a real-world process and plan your first app. Get hands-on support from expert trainers and peer mentors.
Build and deploy a working business application
-Power Automate (14 hours)
Next, learn to create powerful automations that save time and reduce manual tasks. Identify repetitive tasks that can be automated. Select connectors and build multi-step flows. Learn through real-world scenarios and troubleshooting challenges. Gain resilience and confidence with guided support
-Power BI (14 hours)
Dive into business data and learn to turn numbers into actionable insights. Source, clean, and analyse live datasets. Design interactive dashboards to visualise trends and KPIs. Communicate findings clearly using charts and visuals. Work through scenario-based challenges with mentoring
-Power Virtual Agents (7 hours)
Build chatbots that can respond to customer or staff queries around the clock. Learn how conversational AI works in a business setting. Design, test, and improve chatbot flows for real use cases. Follow best practices for usability and functionality
-Power Pages (7 hours)
Create data-driven websites with no-code tools. Understand how to build secure, interactive portals. Link your site to business data to enhance service delivery. Focus on usability, security, and mobile-friendly design
-Wrap-up and Projects (4 hours)
Bring everything together with a final project and reflection session. Explore cross-cutting themes: AI-powered automation, security, and governance. Combine tools across Power Platform for integrated solutions. Apply your skills in a practical project supported by trainers. Celebrate your progress and prepare for next steps
Learning Outcomes
You will develop a thorough understanding of low-code automation and its applications in improving business processes. Ongoing coursework will enable you to design and implement a digital workflow strategy for your organisation, focusing on real-world challenges and delivering a practical solution you can showcase and reuse.

Expected Commitment
Commitment to complete the full 60 hours of training
Each Bootcamp involves 60 hours of intensive training, typically delivered 1 day per week over several weeks.
Achieve a Job Outcome
For employed people this might be an enhanced job role with increase responsibility, a promotion or job role change. For self employed it is new skills to help you gain more business, and for unemployed its a guaranteed job interview and / or job offer.
Complete a Capstone Project & Assessment
You will be assessed for: Technical execution & accuracy, Ethical & secure use , Workflow design & documentation, Data insight & decision-making , Creative content & iteration, Reflection & future planning

Skills Bootcamps for unemployed and self-employed are fully funded, so free of charge to access. SMEs pay 10% and Large organisations with over 250 staff pay 30%.
