My name is Julie Hawker MBE, and I am the CEO of Cosmic.
I lead the strategic development of the organisation and help shape our future direction. My role is focused on making sure our plans are ambitious, purposeful and closely linked to our mission. That mission is to help more people, businesses, and communities benefit from digital technology.
Working with partners, funders and clients is a key part of what I do. This helps secure high-quality projects that support digital skills, digital transformation and digital inclusion. Creating work that delivers real value and lasting impact remains a strong focus.
Alongside this, I lead consultancy through our Digital Leadership programme. This involves helping organisations develop clear digital strategies and move forward with confidence. I also provide one-to-one coaching for CEOs in the social enterprise and charity sectors, supporting them as they lead in a digital-first world.
Leading the team at Cosmic is one of the most rewarding parts of my role. I am proud of the social and environmental impact we create and the difference we make to individuals, organisations and communities.
We are continuing to build ambitious plans for the future. Our vision is simple. We want everyone to be able to benefit from digital technologies.
Outside of Cosmic, I am proud to be a Trustee of the Good Things Foundation, the South West regional lead for Future Dot Now, and Chair of the Bank of England’s Citizen Panels in the South West.
Before joining Cosmic, I worked in IT deployment in local government, where I led staff training programmes. Earlier in my career, I worked in the family motor trade business, where I developed strong experience in administration, finance and business practice.
Outside work, I enjoy horse riding, spending time with my dogs and exploring the South West in my camper van. I also enjoy reading, painting and sketching, especially dogs and horses.
