We welcome the publication of the new Greater Devon Local Skills Improvement Plan and are encouraged to see digital fluency and future readiness recognised as a top priority for the region. The message is clear: digital skills, AI confidence and strong leadership are now essential foundations for productivity, growth and opportunity across every sector.
The LSIP is available to read here.
At Cosmic, this strongly reflects what we see every day when working with businesses, communities and public sector organisations across the South West. The greatest opportunities now lie not simply in adopting technology, but in helping people use it confidently, effectively and ethically to improve outcomes and unlock potential.
As Devon moves into the delivery phase of the LSIP, we look forward to continuing our role in supporting employers, individuals and communities to build the digital capabilities needed for future success. Together, we can create a region where everyone has the opportunity to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
Julie Hawker, CEO at Cosmic, posits that: “Digital skills sitting as top priority for the years ahead is absolutely correct in the new LSIP and Cosmic looks forward to continue playing its vital role in delivery and support for individuals, organisations and businesses across the county in addressing the digital and AI skills uplifts.”
Currently, Cosmic is a delivery partner for the Skills Bootcamp training, funded by local authorities across Devon, Somerset and Dorset, and overseen by the Department for Work and Pensions – delivering a 9-week intensive course to employees and independents looking to upskill in AI and automation, with the goal to increase workforce capabilities and measure skills growth. They are also supporting the Good Things Foundation with the delivery of a free Google AI Professional Certification course. All courses mentioned are currently open to registration.
The Greater Devon Local Skills Improvement Plan (LSIP) 2026-2029 has been published today, and Cosmic is proud to be a partner in bringing it to life.
Led by Devon Chamber of Commerce as the region’s Employer Representative Body, and approved by the Secretary of State in accordance with the Skills and Post-16 Education Act 2022, the plan sets out a shared, employer-led vision for how technical education, workforce development and skills investment can better serve the needs of employers and communities across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.
