Are you ready to take your digital skills to the next level? Cosmic’s Skills Bootcamps are part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee. They’re designed to help you build confidence, develop practical expertise, and access real job opportunities across Devon.
We’ve partnered with local employers to shape two unique bootcamps that meet real needs in the region’s businesses and charities.
- AI Bootcamp – Boost Productivity with Smart Tools
Over nine weeks, you’ll gain hands-on experience with leading AI tools like ChatGPT, Canva AI, and Excel Copilot. First, you’ll explore how to save time through automation. Then, you’ll learn to create content faster and design digital solutions for real-world use. This bootcamp is ideal for anyone wanting to streamline tasks and work more efficiently using modern AI. - Power Platform and Process Automation– Build Low-Code Solutions
In this bootcamp, you’ll dive into Microsoft’s Power Platform: Power Apps, Automate, BI, Virtual Agents, and Pages. Learn to build custom apps, automate routine processes, and use data to make smarter decisions. By the end of the course, you’ll have developed business-ready tools to improve how your team works. - * We are still awaiting confirmation of funding to deliver these bootcamps, but we welcome expressions of interest to get involved as spaces are limited.
Your Expected Commitment –
- Each Bootcamp involves 60 hours of intensive training, typically delivered 1 day per week over several weeks.
- Participants must commit to attending all sessions and achieving an outcome such as a promotion, a new job role, or changes in responsibilities aligned with the training.
- Contribution requirements apply (10% for SMEs with less than 250 staff, 30% for over 250 staff. Free of charge if you are unemployed)
- Spaces are limited, and funding confirmation is still pending. However, we welcome early expressions of interest.

AI Bootcamp Curriculum: Learn Real-World AI Skills

The curriculum for the AI bootcamp is:
Weeks 1–2: Foundations of AI in the Workplace (14 hrs)
Start by understanding the basics of artificial intelligence and how it applies to your work. Explore generative AI, large language models (LLMs), and automation. See tools in action: ChatGPT, Canva AI, Excel Copilot. Bust common AI myths and discover real business use cases. Map your own productivity goals to spot high-impact AI applications. Discuss ethics, responsibility, and the mindset shift needed for success
Weeks 3–4: Prompt Engineering, Communication, & Workflow Automation (14 hrs)
Next, learn to communicate clearly with AI and use it to speed up daily tasks. Master a framework for writing powerful AI prompts. Create content like emails, reports, and meeting summaries. Design branded visuals with Canva AI and Midjourney. Automate tasks like scheduling and reminders using AI tools
Weeks 5–6: Data and Content Application with Peer Collaboration (13 hrs)
In these weeks, apply AI to real business challenges and work with others to improve your ideas. Clean and visualise data using Excel Copilot and Looker Studio. Plan campaigns and write internal documents with AI help. Prototype your own AI tool and get feedback from peers. Improve your project using structured tutor and peer review
Weeks 7–8: Advanced AI Tools and Employability Skills (12 hrs)
Dive into building smart tools and improving your employability. Create basic AI-powered chatbots with OpenAI or Copilot Studio. Train custom AI using your own business data like FAQ’s. Experiment with plugins, no-code tools, and automation agents. Use AI to write standout CVs and cover letters. Practice interviews and receive feedback from employers
Week 9: Final Capstone Sprint and Presentation (7 hrs)
Wrap up your learning journey by showcasing your new skills.Finalise your AI project using insights from previous week. Create a clear one-page summary of your solution. Present to a panel of local employers and get structured feedback. Celebrate your achievements and take your next step with confidence

The curriculum for the Power Platform and Automation bootcamp is:
– Power Apps (14 hours)
Start your journey by learning to build low-code solutions using Power Apps. Understand the fundamentals of app design and logic. Choose and connect to data sources like Dataverse or SharePoint. Map out a real-world process and plan your first app. Get hands-on support from expert trainers and peer mentors.
Build and deploy a working business application
-Power Automate (14 hours)
Next, learn to create powerful automations that save time and reduce manual tasks. Identify repetitive tasks that can be automated. Select connectors and build multi-step flows. Learn through real-world scenarios and troubleshooting challenges. Gain resilience and confidence with guided support
-Power BI (14 hours)
Dive into business data and learn to turn numbers into actionable insights. Source, clean, and analyse live datasets. Design interactive dashboards to visualise trends and KPIs. Communicate findings clearly using charts and visuals. Work through scenario-based challenges with mentoring
-Power Virtual Agents (7 hours)
Build chatbots that can respond to customer or staff queries around the clock. Learn how conversational AI works in a business setting. Design, test, and improve chatbot flows for real use cases. Follow best practices for usability and functionality
-Power Pages (7 hours)
Create data-driven websites with no-code tools. Understand how to build secure, interactive portals. Link your site to business data to enhance service delivery. Focus on usability, security, and mobile-friendly design
-Wrap-up and Projects (4 hours)
Bring everything together with a final project and reflection session. Explore cross-cutting themes: AI-powered automation, security, and governance. Combine tools across Power Platform for integrated solutions. Apply your skills in a practical project supported by trainers. Celebrate your progress and prepare for next steps
