With over 35 years of experience, they pair deep local insight with a strong commitment to integrity, teamwork and quality, helping organisations find great people and helping candidates land roles that fit their skills, ambitions and values. Whether you’re a startup or a long‑established firm, Cathedral Appointments manages the whole recruitment journey, matching roles across business support, HR, IT, finance, legal, engineering, sales & marketing, always with a personal, attentive, region-first approach designed to support long-term success for both employer and employee.

Heidi plays a key operational role at Cathedral Appointments. Her focus is clear: keep things running smoothly so consultants can focus on what they do best, helping people and organisations find the right fit.

With a proven track record in senior administration and operational support, Heidi brings calm structure to the business, helping to streamline processes and enhance day-to-day efficiency. But until recently, many of her day-to-day tasks were still manual. That changed when she joined Cosmic’s Power Platform and Automate Skills Bootcamp, a step that helped her see digital tools in a new light.

Heidi describes the Bootcamp as a “bit of a rollercoaster,” juggling training with a busy workload. But despite the challenge, she saw the value right away.

“I’m proud to have created, for the most part, a working Canva App and Power Automate flow,” she says. “I can now see how I’d mirror these automations in future projects.”

She built her capstone project around real operational needs and gained confidence applying what she learned, not just watching demos, but doing the work herself.

Small wins, lasting change

The Bootcamp helped shift how Heidi approaches everyday tasks. She now evaluates manual processes through a new lens, asking what could be automated or integrated.

“I’m now looking at manual tasks and thinking about how they can be automated to minimise the need to be a busy fool,” she says. “I want to combine multiple platforms of information into one area.”

Power Automate and Canva Apps were both new to her, and while she’s still building confidence with formulas, she now knows how to supplement her learning using documentation and AI tools.

Practical learning that sticks

What worked best for Heidi’s learning style were the practice case studies, tasks that applied the tools in real-world contexts.

“They made the learning more practical,” she notes. “It wasn’t just theory, it was about doing.”

Her thoughtful feedback includes a suggestion to split future cohorts by skill level, ensuring each learner gets the right level of challenge.

Supporting a people-first recruitment approach

Cathedral Appointments is known for its people-first, values-led recruitment across sectors like finance, HR, legal, engineering and tech. Their approach is both personal and community-focused, and Heidi’s work underpins that with structure, clarity and now… automation.

Her new skills in Power Automate for recruitment are helping her rethink processes, reduce admin burden and explore smarter ways to manage operational data.

Heidi’s experience shows that Power Automate doesn’t need to be daunting, even when you’re juggling a full workload. With the right support, even small automation wins can free up time for work that matters.
