From AI Curiosity to Workplace Impact: Dawn’s Skills Bootcamp Story
When Dawn Chamberlain enrolled on the AI for Workplace Productivity Skills Bootcamp, she was looking to build new skills at a transitional moment in her career. With a natural interest in technology, the course offered a practical route into understanding how AI could be applied in real-world settings.

From Learning to Application
The AI for Workplace Productivity Skills Bootcamp goes beyond theory. It gives participants the confidence and practical skills to use AI tools effectively and responsibly.
For Dawn, one of the biggest takeaways was gaining an understanding of ethical AI use. She also developed practical skills she could apply immediately in the workplace.
“The ethical and responsible use of AI was one of the first things we covered.”
Through a series of structured modules, Dawn explored how AI can support marketing, data analysis, and workplace efficiency. As a result, she gained a clearer understanding of how AI can improve everyday tasks.
Delivering Immediate Value in the Workplace
Dawn now works as an Employer Engagement Officer at Devon County Council on the Connect to Work programme. She uses AI regularly in her day-to-day role.
AI helps her summarise long reports, structure data, and improve workflows. Because of this, she can make informed decisions more quickly. She also spends more time on higher-value work, including employer engagement and programme support.
Enabling Wider Organisational Impact
The training created benefits beyond individual productivity. Dawn shared her knowledge internally and helped colleagues build confidence using AI tools in their own roles.
“I’ve delivered mini training sessions with other teams, which has hopefully helped others feel more confident using AI.”
She also supports trials of new AI technologies within Devon County Council. This work encourages innovation and continuous improvement across teams.
Building Confidence for What’s Next
Completing the bootcamp gave Dawn the confidence to continue developing her skills in a fast-moving area.
“It has helped me become more productive and more confident. Work that would have taken days before can now be done in hours.”
For individuals and organisations looking to futureproof their skills, Dawn sees clear value in AI training.
Delivered by Cosmic in partnership with Devon County Council, Skills for Life, and Economy, Enterprise and Skills at Devon County Council, the Skills Bootcamp was funded by the UK Government to help people build practical digital skills for the workplace.
“I would recommend it to anyone; it’s a fantastic opportunity to upskill in an area that’s only going to grow.”
